Community Involvement

 

Olex has been manufacturing cables from its Bell Block (New Plymouth) location for more than 40 years and has long been considered an ‘employer of choice’. Our community involvement is driven by the belief that we have a responsibility to support and ‘give-back’ to our community, and ideally endeavouring to make a difference for the future.

Olex is currently involved in the following community groups:

Community Assist

Community Assist is a joint initiative developed with Sport Taranaki and involves CoachCorp and the New Plymouth Volunteer Group. 

Olex employees are entitled to time off during business hours to coach, manage and officiate in community sports.  Alternatively employees who would prefer to give their time in areas outside of sport have the option to do community volunteer work.

Olex Fun Run/Walk Series

Long term major sponsors of the series, Olex has been proudly involved for 19 of the 25 year history of this great event.

The Olex Series comprises of nine athletic clubs individually organising a walking or running circuit over a variety of distances in all areas of Taranaki and held during the summer months.

Olex Rugby Academy

The Olex Taranaki Rugby Academy is to champion excellence in rugby in Taranaki.  The Academy will identify talent within the region and provide a pathway for the best rugby players in the province to professional rugby. 

ECANZ Challenge

The ECANZ Challenge is an electrical industry initiative to find the most outstanding individual with a flair for either domestic/commercial, or industrial work.
